Bake off with Michael Rosen?

March 6th, 2018 Posted 7:47 pm

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about measures and ratio in maths, and writing instructions (including recipes) in English. So, what better way to pull it all together than to cook a chocolate cake just like in Michael Rosen’s poem!

I hope you are all having a fabulous time on your snow days! Once you’ve finished making snow angels and sledging, how about curling up somewhere warm with a good book or newspaper? Don’t forget you could challenge a friend on TT Rockstars, and there are some great games on Topmarks too! See you after the weekend!

Amethyst Class studied the features of newspaper reports and wrote their own reports about their Viking Day. The roving reporters even gathered quotes from some other pupils in Key Stage 2.

Home Learning 12th January

January 13th, 2018 Posted 11:26 am

This week you have arithmetic practice and spellings as usual. Take care with your spellings – I noticed some double ‘f’s instead of double ‘r’s in books… eg ‘preffering’ instead of ‘preferring’.

You also have some dialogue writing to practice – remember to do ‘new speaker, new line’!

Reading diaries should still be filled in daily – build that reading stamina and enjoy a good story! Comment which book you are currently reading and whether you recommend it.

Great learning in class this week superheroes – keep it up!

Are you ready to learn about the Vikings? Were they really bloodthirsty marauders with long beards and horned helmets? Find out in this terms topic: ‘Let the battle commence!’

Write what you would like to find out about the Vikings in the comments, or share anything you already know!

There is no homework set for the Christmas holidays- have a rest and recharge your batteries ready for a term of  hard work in January.  However, do try and keep reading – it could be books, magazines, blogs or newspapers, and remember you can use Spellzone, Topmarks or TT Rockstars at any time. Have a lovely Christmas Year 6 and enjoy the break! Xx
